Let's face it. Android has its issues, especially when its within the budget category. Problems like lag, system hang, unclear radio and more are a common thing. For some, this has turned them off from ever wanting to use it anymore. Thankfully with the recent launch of large display head units from some of the branded manufacturers, alternatives to Android head units are now available.

In this video you can see us install the Kenwood DMX80AXS 9" universal unit into the Subaru BRZ. Although it looks exactly like an Android head unit, it is not. It works just as a regular 2-DIN Kenwood head unit does. This install uses the Android 9" dash kit.

So, if you're in the market for a new head unit and really only want wireless Apple CarPlay and Android Auto, then this is likely one of the best solution out there. However, do take note if your particular car needs to use the can bus interface, then maybe this is not a suitable solution as it doesn't support it.
